Our Story

The foundation of Eastwood Wealth can be traced back to Nashville, NC where my family operated a drycleaning and coin laundry business started by my Grandfather in 1943.

From an early age, I was fortunate to witness first-hand the virtue of serving others with an emphasis on quality and the value of putting in a good day's work.  That dedication served my hometown for almost 78 years before my Dad retired in 2020.

Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent doing odd jobs around the cleaners while hanging with my Dad and Grandfather.  They always made me feel that my contributions were important to the overall operation.

The project I looked forward to the most was sifting through the contents of broken coin laundry machines.  There was a little bit of everything in those entanglements.  My reward was being able to keep any coins that I could find.  As a youngster, I would put on yellow household cleaning gloves, that stretched up underneath my arms at that time, and went to work with a toothbrush and a container of soapy water.  I would find and clean $20 or $30 worth of coins and you would've thought I was a millionaire.

Back then there were no coin machines in banks and grocery stores to easily count your loose change.  You had to do it the old-fashioned way.  It had to be wrapped using paper coin wrappers and taken to the bank.  The proceeds were used to fund my first investment, my baseball and basketball card collection.

Growing up, I remember newspapers always laying around.  I spent a lot of time with my Dad and Grandfather reviewing the Business and Finance section.  Do you remember when this section was part of the paper every day?  We talked openly about the value of money, how to use it to help ourselves and others and how to attract more of it through saving and investing.

We discussed time-tested financial principles and our family's investments which my Grandfather kept record of in a tattered, yellow notebook with entries dating back to the 1960's.  He was a child of The Great Depression and remembered it.  To sit back and listen to him reminisce of a simpler time was priceless.

My Grandfather and I had a special bond and even shared the same birthday.  He offered his time and wisdom, and I was a sponge.  In 2010, he gave me that old yellow notebook on his 90th birthday.  To me, it's always been a tangible lesson to having a plan, the patience to see it through and the innate belief that tomorrow will be better than today.

Thankfully, my family encouraged me to expand my horizons past the drycleaning business.  I attended East Carolina University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Prior to graduating, I was offered an opportunity to follow my vision of assisting others with their financial planning and investment management.  I began my life's work using the same guiding principles that had been ingrained in me for as long as I can remember.  It was second nature to me.  With a strong gravitational pull to the beach, I moved to Wilmington in the Spring of 2000, and the rest is history.

In 2011, after more than eleven years as a financial advisor, I founded Eastwood Wealth and completed the rigorous education courses and Board examination to earn the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation.  Helping Clients and watching them thrive over time has been the most fulfilling professional experience of my life.

To me, financial planning revolves around designing and pursuing the quality of life that we desire for ourselves and our family, now and in the future.  I have found that good things happen when you stretch your comfort zone and live life to the fullest.  That's what I love helping people do-live life to the fullest.  It's about living a long and healthy, purpose-filled life surrounded by the people, places and activities you love the most.

Experience has taught me that to do so requires knowing what we want, having a plan to attract it and then relaxing and letting it happen over time.  This is a path to living an abundant life full of joy, contentment and gratitude.  We can create our own "simpler time" to look back on one day and share it with our grandkids and the most important people in our life.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, standup paddle boarding the waters around Wrightsville Beach, cooking a healthy meal, exercising, playing my guitar or sitting under an umbrella at the beach with a good book.  In the future, I want to travel more and keep offering variety to my life while helping others through Eastwood Wealth.  I have found that when I get out and see the world, I'm a better person in all aspects of life.

When you're ready to create the future you want, one simple step at a time, I would be thrilled and honored to speak with you about the process of pursuing your dreams.

Thank you for your interest in Eastwood Wealth and the opportunity to serve you and your family!

Best,

THE HISTORY OF THE PINEAPPLE

The pineapple has long been the universal symbol of hospitality since the days of the early American colonies. The legend begins with the seafaring captains of New England who sailed the tropical Caribbean waters in search of fruits, spices, and rum.

At this time, the only trade routes were by ship and the waters often perilous. To get the succulent fruit back to port without it spoiling was a significant feat.

Upon returning, captains would spear a fence post outside of their home with a pineapple. This was the sign that the captain was home safely and company was welcomed. During these visits the guests were greeted with the rewards of a successful journey and tales from the sea.

Today, the pineapple remains the stamp of welcome, warmth and good cheer. For this reason, it is the symbol of Eastwood Wealth Management.
